Fast Facts

Here are some fast facts about school

Arrival and Attendance:

School begins at 8:40am.  If your student arrives later than 8:50, they must check-in at the office to be let through the locked inner doors.  Please remember to send me a note or e-mail if:

  • Your student will be absent (even if you have already notified the office).
  • Your child is changing his/her schedule for the day or for the rest of the year.  For safety purposes, I cannot send a child home a different way without a note or email from a parent.
  • Something has happened that may affect your child’s mood or behavior. For example, if a family pet passed away.

Planned Absences:

If you know in advance that your student will be absent (such as for vacations) please notify me and the office (425-413-3500) in advance.

Schedule:

School will begin at 8:40 every morning. The building will be open at 8:35 and students are welcome into the classroom any time after 8:35. We get out of school at 3:20 on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays; and 1:20 on Fridays.  Friday September 2nd is a full day and students will be dismissed at 3:20.   Detailed information about our schedule will be sent home on Friday.

Lunch:

Our district works hard to provide healthy lunches for every student that needs one!  I will post the hot lunch options each morning.  Breakfast is $2.75, Lunch is $4.25 and milk is 75 cents.  If you need to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch, the applications as well as the monthly menu schedule are available on the district website (https://www.tahomasd.us/departments/nutrition_services/free__reduced-_priced_meal_information)

Meals can also be prepaid in advance at https://wa-tahoma.intouchreceipting.com/ or via check. If sending a check, please write your student’s name and lunch number on the “memo” line.

Take Home Folders:

Your child’s “Homework Folder” is a main form of communication between the school and your family.  Each student will bring his folder to school and back home again every day.  Please check your child’s folder daily for student work and information from the school.

Birthdays:

Birthdays are a special time in young children’s lives and so they are a special time in the class! Please do not bring treats. I celebrate birthdays by giving each child a birthday pillow which includes book and book light.

Parent Volunteers:

I am so appreciative of parents who are willing and able to give of their time and energy to support our school and classroom!  A sign up sheet will be available at the Aug. 25th Meet and Greet.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected].
